Outrank Competitors

Google Ads for Shopify, built on searches that already sell

Start with the searches your competitors win on Google, not a blank keyword list. Claude groups them, writes the ads for your product and sets bids from Google’s own auction prices. You import the campaigns into Google Ads and switch them on.

Search, Shopping or Performance Max?

Three campaign types do very different jobs. Here’s which one gives you what.

Many shops run both: Shopping or Performance Max for reach, Search for the searches they want to win with their own message. The tools here build the Search side.
The hard part

A good Search campaign starts with the keyword list

Paying for the wrong searches is the quickest way to waste an ad budget.

Searches with proof

Keywords your competitors already rank or advertise on, with monthly searches and CPC, so you start where buyers are.

Tight ad groups

Claude groups related searches, up to 20 per ad group, so every ad matches what people typed. Exact and phrase match only.

Ads for your product

12 headlines and 4 descriptions per ad group, written only from your product page and your notes. Nothing made up, no competitor names.

Bids from the auction

Careful, Balanced or Aggressive: the low end, the middle or the top of Google’s top-of-page bid range for each keyword.

A budget that fits

No limit, or a fixed budget for the days you plan to run. With a fixed budget, ad groups that don’t fit are paused, not deleted.

Ready for Google Ads Editor

One file with campaigns, ad groups, keywords and ads, all paused. Plus a keyword list with bids and searches.

Real example

From a competitor’s page to your ad groups

Say you sell a 32 oz insulated bottle. A well-known brand’s product page for its 32 oz bottle ranks for 90 buying searches in the United States, with 55,360 searches a month. “32 oz water bottle” alone has 9,900, at an average of $0.77 per click.

Pick the searches that fit your bottle and Claude sorts them into ad groups. On “Balanced”, each keyword’s bid sits in the middle of Google’s auction range: $0.93 for “32 oz water bottle”, $2.30 for the more contested “32 oz bottle”. Then it writes the ads from your product page.

How it works

Three steps to your first Search campaign

  1. 1

    Enter a competitor

Paste a competitor’s shop or product page and pick the country you sell in. You see the searches they rank and advertise for.

  2. 2

    Pick your searches

Keep the ones that fit your product. Their brand name and research-type searches are left out unless you add them.

  3. 3

    Answer three questions

Where should the ads lead, anything they should mention, how much to spend. Claude builds the campaigns; you export them for Google Ads Editor.

Guide

How to set up Google Ads for a Shopify store

A short checklist for your first Search campaign.

  1. Set up conversion tracking first. Shopify’s Google & YouTube app can track purchases for you. Without it, you can’t tell which searches bring sales.
  2. Choose searches with buying intent. “32 oz insulated bottle” is a shopper; “how long does ice last in a bottle” is usually not. Start with the searches your competitors already win.
  3. Use exact and phrase match. Broad match lets Google decide which searches you pay for. For a first test, keep control.
  4. Keep ad groups small. 5 to 20 closely related keywords per ad group, so the ad can repeat what people searched for.
  5. Bid from real prices. Google’s top-of-page bid range for each keyword tells you what it takes to show up. Start in the middle, then adjust with your own data.
  6. Give the test time. Let each ad group collect enough clicks before you judge it. A few clicks say nothing about a search.

Planning more than ads? Make sure the product page converts the clicks you pay for: see Shopify conversion rate optimization.

Good to know

What you get, and what stays with you

You stay in charge of the account. We never log into your Google Ads account. You import the file, check it and switch it on.

Numbers are estimates. Search volumes, CPC and auction ranges come from Google Ads data and are a starting point. Real clicks and costs depend on your ads, your bids and your competitors that day.

Search campaigns only. If you also want Shopping or Performance Max, set them up through Shopify’s Google & YouTube app; the campaigns from here run next to them.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Does it connect to my Google Ads account?

No. You download the campaigns as a file and import them with Google Ads Editor, Google’s free desktop app. Everything arrives paused, so nothing runs or costs money until you’ve checked it and switched it on.

Is this a Shopify app?

No. It’s a web app, so there’s nothing to install in your store. It works for Shopify and for any other shop: you only enter web addresses.

Does it build Shopping or Performance Max campaigns?

No, it builds Search campaigns: text ads for the searches you choose. Shopping and Performance Max run from your product feed (on Shopify via the Google & YouTube app). Many shops run Search next to them, because Search is where you decide which searches you pay for.

How much budget do I need?

That depends on what clicks cost in your niche. You can choose “no limit” to see what all the picked searches would cost, or set a fixed budget; the plan then keeps the ad groups that fit and pauses the rest. The editor shows the clicks your budget can buy at your bids.

Can I change the campaigns before exporting?

Yes. Keywords, bids, headlines and descriptions can all be edited before you export. You can also switch the bid level between Careful, Balanced and Aggressive and see the effect right away.

What if I don’t know my competitors yet?

Start with the Product Validator: it finds the top competitors for your product, and its last step builds test campaigns too. Or enter the shop that shows up first when you search for your product.

Is it free?

Creating an account is free and comes with 2 credits, no card needed. After that you top up credits when you need them. There’s no subscription and credits never expire.

Do I need conversion tracking?

Yes, before you spend real money. Without it, Google can’t tell you which searches led to sales. On Shopify, the Google & YouTube app can set up purchase tracking for you.
